Here's what parents have to say about the 2012 Gluten Detectives Summer Camp...

"I literally choked up leaving camp the first day. As a mom, I hadn't been aware of how exhausted I had become being diligent with the new diet and educating my child, family, etc. It was such a relief to share the experience for a few days!"
~ Michelle Walters

"The camp was wonderful! Thank you for such a great experience! She got to feel 'normal' again!"
~ Piper Willhite

Gluten Detectives "Investigated, Advocated & Celebrated" at the
2012 Summer Camp!

Forty kids, ages 5-11 came together for three days at our Bloomington location for our second annual Gluten Detective Camp. Families traveled from as far as SD, OH and IL to join the Minnesota GD's for this popular three-day event. The children participated in chef-instructed cooking lessons, enjoyed live music from Captain Rich, filmed public service announcements, participated in crafts and games, and built friendships to last a lifetime. The culmination of the camp was a field trip to Wildfire in Eden Prairie, where Chef Roberto Santos, demonstrated how they keep our food safe from cross contamination at their restaurant. The objective of the Gluten Detective camp is to address the mental health challenges that kids who follow restrictive diets face in their daily lives. When asked what they learned over the course of three days, the first GD raised his hand and replied, "I learned that even though I might have Celiac disease, I am not alone." The Celiac Center of Minnesota was proud to host such an innovative camp and looks forward to hosting next year's camp for the rapidly growing ranks of our Gluten Detectives!
